O P E R A T I O N I R A Q I F R E E D O M Sergeant Jay J. Richardson, a section leader with Jump Platoon, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 5, patrols through a valley to ensure no one is hiding in the brush in western al-Anbar province, Iraq, Aug. 21. The Jump Platoon is responsible for keeping the battalion commander safe during operations.
